Working with data-driven templates
Why don't you use the labels for charts that are generated by the worksheet?
If the labels are very short (like years or one- or two-word labels) it is not a problem. The labels do tend to drop too far below a horizontal baseline, however. When you want to be sure that you can control the line breaks, positioning, and other important fine tuning, it's best to have the labels outside the worksheet and outside the graphic program. This is one of the signs of a professionally produced presentations: working outside the application (in this case the graphics program) if it is restrictive or does not produce the desired look.
